The son of Arthur Charles Evans and Phyllis Connie Evans, David was educated at Hampden Secondary School and at the Watford College of Technology.

In 1957, he joined Stone and Cox Ltd as apprentice printer before moving to the sales team, firstly as sales executive being promoted later to sales director.

David founded Centurion Press in 1971, becoming chairman of its companies in the United Kingdom, Netherlands and the U.S.

David and his management team sold the highly successful, 70 million pounds a year print management company, to communisis in 2002. This allowed David to tackle new challenges by forming Senate Consulting to develop an interesting and wide-ranging portfolio of clients and public service, providing mentoring and where necessary seed capital for young companies launching into a variety of market

David's current Positions are including chairman of Personnel Publications Ltd; chairman of Redactive Publishing group; chairman of Evans Mitchell Books; trustee of Royal Air Force Museum; director of Royal Air Force Trading Company; fellow of Chartered Institute of Marketing; fellow of City and Guilds Institute; deputy chairman of the International Medical Education Trust; development board member of UCL Hospital’s Charitable Trust; non-executive director of Care Capital plc; patron of VITAL; former director of KISS 100 FM Radio station.

If those who have booked fail to attend the venue invariably still charges the BCCT. As a result, BCCT's policy in these situations is to invoice no-shows (unless there are exceptional circumstances).
