*Message from British Embassy Bangkok* SAVE THE DATE : 8TH December 2025 2pm onwards Dear BCCT Members, As many of you will be aware, there is no easy solution as to how we, the Consular Section of the British Embassy, can help our elderly nationals, resident in Thailand, when they face certain issues. I would therefore like to have an open and frank discussion with you all to see if we can collectively come up with some ideas on how to deal with the elderly. This would then hopefully lead to the production of a guide which would contain general information/guidance and sign posting to organisations in Thailand who can assist these people. This would offset the risk of British nationals, and/or their families, becoming more vulnerable and requiring further assistance which we, or organisations like the Royal British Legion, might not be able to address. My thinking is around the following: 1. Ensure all British Nationals have a will which is valid in Thailand (and possibly another one to cover any UK assets) One of the attendees at this proposed meeting will be a visitor from Newcastle University in the UK who is doing research into dementia care for foreigners and long-term care facilities in Thailand. One plea – we will only be able to advertise in our guide those companies who can offer affordable policies. Please take into account many older expatriates might be living off just their UK state pension and nothing else. If you are interested in attending this meeting, which will be held at the British Embassy, please reach out to Aurellus Pattinson (Will) at Aurellus.Pattinson@fcdo.gov.uk. |
